The recovery of Giffords has been extraordinary. She is miles further than her doctors projected she would be. But, the news of her resigning was bound to happen. Everyone knows she won't be fit for office for at least another year or so. It is just sad that the news had to come. She remains hopeful that she can return to the job that she loves at some point in the future.

Gabby Giffords Resigning
Well, this news is sad. No other way to put it. The Congresswomen from Arizona was almost killed in an assassination attempt last year. The attack lead to many others, including a 9 year old girl, to die. Giffords is very lucky to be alive.
Egypt's Unfinished Revolution
Egypt is still a mess. That is easy to see. Their revolution completely fell through. There is no more trust in the military. The economy is still stumbling. The tourists haven't come back. And there is still a long way to go. But, there is hope.
Egypt's democratically elected parliament met for the first time on Monday. This is a good sign for the country that has never recovered from the initial overthrow of Mubarak last year. In recent months, protests have returned. This has lead to clashes with the military that is currently in control. But, the parliament is a good sign. This is also a sign that a radical Islam group will take over and turn Egypt into another hot bed for terrorism.
Obama's State of the Union adress
Well, I forgot all about these blogs. I will attempt to cram them all in at the end. I promise to be better next marking period. Last night, was Obama's yearly State of the Union address. This could very well be his last State of the Union.
I was quite impressed by his speech. It was the Obama that I was so impressed with in 2008. He actually spoke his mind. He cracked some jokes. He seemed like he was back to his usual form. The majority of his new suggestions were fantastic. I was glad to see he wants to address the issue of college costing too much. Also, I was impressed with how he wanted to deal with taxes for the rich.
But, this speech also woke me up. Obama is the perfect campaigner. He can fire up any crowd. He gives fantastic speeches. But, he never acts on it. He just keeps on saying get it to my desk and I'll sign it. Obama needs to take authority. He needs to push his weight around as President.
After this speech, I don't know who to root for in the 2012 election. Obama seems like the safe option, but I don't want another 4 years of saying we'll get them next year. And Obama is leaning on the death of Osama as the biggest crutch. He opened and closed with that last night. This speech is just going to be another empty promise to a nation that needs big change. Change is needed in Congress, in the Precedency and maybe even the constitution.
